EQUIPMENT

The platform I operate (exact unit pictured) is the DJI Phantom 3 Professional. The UAV features a 3-Axis stabilized camera that takes both still pictures and videos. The still photographs are 12 Megapixels in resolution, and the video has 4K capability.

To make quality photography possible, I monitor a live feed from the UAV on my phone, from which I can alter settings and view terrain in real time. I am able to control the UAV from several miles away with optimal conditions (though, for the sake of safety, it is best to keep it within clear visibility).

The platform's producer, DJI, is currently the UAV industry's leading producer, as they continue to make strides in specialized technology.

I use several filters made by the one of the leading producers of aerial photography-oriented products, PolarPro, to enhance video and stills.

I also use an official version of Adobe Photoshop for post-production processing. The amount of editing required varies from picture to picture, and even from artist to artist depending on style, but is usually always a necessary step in creating a quality photograph.

LOCATION

I mainly operate both inside and outside of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, found in Lycoming County. I travel around North-Central Pennsylvania and elsewhere, always looking for new opportunities to see things from a different perspective.

ABOUT

PHOTOGRAPHY

An important part of any type of photography is recognizing limits. In aerial photography specifically, the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) has many guidelines set in place to help ensure the safety of vehicles, people, and property. Operators like myself must aim to follow laws set in place, but it is also the responsibility of those who employ UAV operators to recognize that operators could be put in serious legal harm if they ignore these rules.

Aerial photography has a wide range of applications, from documenting events to displaying property. I specialize in location photography, ranging from sports venues to natural landscapes. Aerial photography is an amazing way to learn more about the area you live in, investigate the property you intend to buy, remember the wedding or celebration you held, and much more.

As a self-operating aerial photographer for over a year now, I hope that my experience and growing reputation can be utilized to show people new perspectives. My work is already being shared and used by various groups, and so I hope to continue my hobby to the point at which I can begin doing commercial work.
